Minutes with Team Member (Design)

Meeting Dates

January 18, 2018

We met and brought all of the parts we had, to take inventory.  We needed to see what we had, and what we needed to order.

January 22, 2018

We talked about ideas for the power supply we need to build for all of our devices, we have knowledge of how to build one thanks to classes we have taken.  We decided to do some further research independently, and create circuit prototypes that may work in or system.

January 23, 2018

We got together to create an email dedicated to the project.  We also started the creation of this website.  We emailed Dr. Chisholm to reminder about the router she was willing to provide for the network security aspect of our project.  We came to a conclusion on a circuit for the power supply, that we plan on presenting to Dr. Notash in our next meeting.

February 6, 2018

After our meeting with Dr. Notash, we went to our engineering open lab to look for a X-rated capacitor that we need in order to have a successful power supply circuit.  Unfortunately, we couldn't find any.  As a result, we need to order some.

February 13, 2018

We made some progress on the website, and received the capacitor we needed to complete the circuit.

February 15, 2018

We got together at the Photonics Lab, where we were able to test our power supply for the devices in a safe environment. We are glad to report that, it works!  Since our power supply works, we ordered small soldering boards to solder our  power supply circuits on to them.

February 20, 2015

We met after our meeting with Dr. Notash to add the final details to our website.  We had been independently studying Java to aide in the creation of our control app.  We both feel as though the class we were taking online wasn't enough.  We decided to talk to a fellow classmate Derrick, he directed us to a class he took, that he believed would help us tremendously.  We bought the class and will start taking the course as soon as possible.

February 26, 2018

On this day we met to assemble a second power supply in preparation to solder them unto the boards and integrate them into our devices, in order to finalize them.

February 27, 2018

We met after meeting Dr. Notash to discuss our plan on developing the app, and writing our pseudocode to use as a guide when creating the app.

March 1, 2018

We met after off campus to solder the power supply circuit.

March 5, 2018

We met at the Photonics Lab to test our power supply circuits in a safe environment.  Unfortunately, there seems to have been a minor malfunction with the power supply.

March 8, 2018

We met to re-solder the circuits on to the boards, and tested the circuits.  Thankfully, there was no malfunction like before, but we noticed that although we were getting the correct voltage, we are not getting enough current to operate our microcontroller.

March 15, 2018

On this day we met with our electrical advisor, and put together our devices utilizing pre-built power supplies.  We tested the devices with a third party app, to confirm that they do operate as expected.

March 20, 2018

We met to discuss how to possibly connect our devices to our app.

March 27, 2018

We met to discuss the app and consulted with our classmate, Derick, who provided very good insight.

April 2, 2018

After facing multiple roadblocks with the app, we decided to take a more streamlined approach.  We want to make sure that the app communicates with the devices in time for presentation

April 8,2018

We did some testing of the app with the devices online and in the network.  Thankfully, everything is working as it should.

April 9, 2018

We got together after meeting with Dr. Notash to discuss final modifications to our devices and codes.
